Flower sprays in chiaroscuro. Handwritten underneath work reads: "Rough chiaroscuro / for sprays, various. / (Too crowded) / To use for Delphiniums, Larkspur, Brompton stocks, Bluebells, Gladiolus [crossed through], etc. / Small chripanth [sic], [illegible]. oil. - sprays of rosebuds of 1/2-open rose, in vase. / Michaelmas daisies -".
